Replacing screen for the clock?

I havn't done a lot of research but I know the clock in my 944 is dead.
It looks like just the screen died, because it's got that bleeding look
to it, so instead of going out and buying another clock, I'd like to
just go out and buy a replacement screen from supertronics or something
similar, and just replacing the screen.

Does anyone have any info on this that would make me think twice about
doing this?
Is there something that would prevent me from doing this?

Will I have to take out the dash? and if so, how hard is it to get my
dash lights to be a bit brighter (maybe replace the bulbs behind it?)

Thanks

you can get at the clock by removing the trim panel - that's done by
pulling the HVAC control and the side panel - dash can stay in place.
If you find a source for screens, let me know

I read somewhere that you can get to it by just taking out the glove
box.... I checked it out, and it looks like I could, however it seems
there is a tube that I couldn't get off of the glove box on the left
side... Any idea what this is / how I can get it off?

That tube feeds the HVAC "sniffer."  This tube breathes air from in front of
the dash to the thermostat on the firewall.

There is also a thicker tube that provides AC to the glovebox.  (I know -
that's why the box needs gloves.)

You can pull the plastic part out in the glovebox :) then the tube can be
moved.

The digital clock uses a regular bulb - I replaced the bulb and the clock
worked.
