The back hatch switch wasn't working... The button near the hood
release (not sure if it's on pre-85.5) would click, and I could hear
something turning, but it wasn't popping open.
So, I unbuttoned the carpet on the right side of the hatch up against
the back wall, and found the solonoid that pulls the cable, that
releases the hatch.
It ended up just being a cylinder looking thing, with a plate on top
that spins with a hole, where the wire with the hook on the end went
into. Then when it spun the wire would pull and open the hatch (in
theory)
However, the hook keeps popping off, and I'm not sure why. Is there
some kind of latch that should be on it, that I am missing?
My hook is bent in towards the wire slightly, should it be a 90 degree
angle?
Is there anything else I can do?
Thanks guys,
Alex

Checked a buddies 944 -- seems I'm missing a plastic insert that goes
in with the hook...
Sad.
Anyone know where I can buy one? Seems like a really obscure part...

the vast majority of these parts are available from the dealer.
Download PET6 and check the diagrams to know what to ask for and then
just call and get it - generally the price of these small parts is
quite reasonable.
and, that thing is a motor, not a solenoid.
