During a tech inspection for a DE event, the inspector told me that the
fuel lines on my '86 944T, the flexible ones that run to the pressure
regulator and the damper are dangerous and should be replaced. At a
previous DE event I developed a horrible leak, when one of the bolts
holding down the fuel rail came loose, so now tech is taking a very
close look at my fuel system.
Currently I have two lengths of braided stainless line held on with
hose clamps. at each end. These were on when I bought the car 18 months
ago, but are obviously aftermarket replacements. I have been told that
they should be replaced by lines using screw- on connectors. However,
both the regulator and the damper have "nipple" connectors and there is
nothing to screw a line to. I've never had any problem with the lines,
but as they run right next to the header, I'm concerned. I also don't
want to be disqualified from my next DE.
Can anyone give me advice on this? Thanks in advance.

Go to
<http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/RecallSearch.cfm>
and type "90V061000" (sans quotation marks) in the box that says "NHTSA
Campaign ID Number:" then click on "Search". This will take you to the
recall notice for the 944 models that were affected. Your car is
included. Armed with the information there, your Porsche dealer should
fix your car gratis, I would think. Good luck.

I thank you for your advice, but this isn't my immediate problem. The
recall concerns a short length of hose that runs from the regulator to
the fuel rail. I will look into this. However right now I'm dealing
with the lines that run from the fender to the regulator and damper.

No...the hose that was replaced on my 87 944 was the high pressure hose,
from the fuel tank to the dampener. The hose/clamp combination was
replaced with a screw on fitting. The return hose from the regulator to
the tank carries no pressure, so the original hose/clamp combination is
sufficient. There is no short hose from the regulator to the rail. The
regulator fits into a cup on the rail and has a hose going to the tank
on one end and a vacuum line fitting on the other.
