I could use some recommendations on a good brand of street tires for my 951.
It currently has the Yokohama ES100s and they may be good track/autocross
tires, but they are very squirrely on the street. Even on a dry raod in high
humidity these tires slip. They have app. 85 percent tread, so thats not the
problem. I'd like a good aggressive road tire for a fair price
Thanks,
Mike (PA)

I am running Fuzions on my 951.  I think they are great!
225/50 on the back and 205/55 on th front.
I did a lot of comparison before I bought them.  I was looking for the most
bang for my buck.  These rated very high in all catergories.
I spent $400 out the door for 4.  I have been very happy with their
performance.  It is a directional tire and is great for dry and wet with no
noise but don't even try them in snow.  I see you are from PA.

I use TOYO TIRES - my last set of tires lasted 85,000 miles !!! And they
would have gone to 100K if I didnt need front end work.
And they are GREAT in snow and rain too.  I'm not sure about racing though.

What an amazing tire.

Michael,

I had Toyos on my '89.  When they needed replacing my research directed me
to settle on Michelin Pilots.  The GT +4s I put on it have been bullet
proof.  Not sure about their availability today since this was a few years
back, but being directional tread my wet weather driving is phenomenal.  The
longevity is great as well.  Which ever direction you go, they deserve a
good close look.  Just my $.02 worth.  Let me know what you decide on.

Mike,

When I bought my 968 in 2000 it had a set of Bridgestone Potenza S-03's
(Front - 205/55-16, Rear - 225/50-16) on 16" Porsche Cup wheels.  They
were fair tires.

I replaced them with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's, again on the 16" Porsche
Cup wheels, and felt that there was better traction and less noise.  I
got them from Tire Rack for $129 each front and $139 each rear.

Last summer I found a set of 17" Porsche Cup wheels and put 17" Goodyear
Eagle F1 GS-D3's on again (Front - 225/45-17, Rear - 255/40-17).  Again
I am pleased with the Goodyears.

Two negatives about the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's.  First, I tired them
in snow, don't, they are about as good as racing slicks in snow.
Second, although I have not put more than 15k miles on either set of the
Goodyears I bet they will last less than 40k miles.

Good luck.

Spencer
