How do you use a beer/soda bottle to keep the hood up? This is a new
one to me :-)
BTW, glad to see you back.

How long would you guess a "normal" set would last? I'm leaning
towards a lifetime set, myself, as I plan on keeping the car. I went
with a "good used" set last time around, and they lasted maybe a year -
that was penny wise, pound foolish. If you plan on keeping your car,
I'd recommend doing right - shell out the extra $$$ - and just doing it
once.

Good tip. The curved "tips" of the back of the hood can touch the
windshield if you raise the hood back too far.

on the 944s, I'd say you ought to get 3 or 4 years from a set of these gas
springs. on my 911, it's 0 years (the new ones don't open the hood), but
that's a problem for a different group. My 356 did it right - no gas
springs, just an over-center mechanism - works perfectly after 50 years, and
it weighs less than those stupid gas springs.

I replaced mine for about $15 bucks each with new ones from either
www.pelicanparts.com or www.thepartsbin.com or zims autotechnik or one
of these websites. they have been working fine for the last three
years.
Pelican parts calls them Front Hood Shocks $15.50 each...
