Hi
On my 87 944 the speedo sometimes is slow to move off the '0' stop as I move
away from rest.
May take 100 yards or so , but it always works eventually.
I am taking the inst panel out soon to replace bulbs . When it is out I have
an opportunity to fix the speedo but what do I do?
I thought a quick spray with contact cleaner may help, any ideas?
Thanks
Alec

The first time I read that, for a moment I thought you were talking
about contact lens solution, which is saline, and would be a really
horrible thing to spray on metal parts. :)

No I meant electrical contact cleaner which is meant to lubricate and clean
electrical contacts

Alec,
I have the same symptom with my '93 968. If you find a solution, please
be kind enough to post it.

I would be really hesitant to put any oily substance onto the speedo - but
you could try a strong degreaser (such as MEK))on the pivots and then a tiny
drop of clock oil on each needle bearing - but spray.... I would very much
recommend against it.. also degrease the stop that the needle rests on at 0
mph/kph. I was very careful in saying clock oil - don't use wd-40, 3 in
one, or some other stuff like that
