Yes; there's a tiny bulb in there.

Could also be a fuse or bad ground/connection. A year and a half after
I bought my '86, the dash clock came on by itself (wasn't doing any
work on the car at all, so it was not connected to anything I did) and
has worked fine since.

the bulb is not hard to change, just remove the glove box - but.....
consider making an LED replacement, that way you can choose the color of
your clock - get an LED that includes an internal regulator so it will run
from the 12 to 18V and reuse the old bulb socket - when I did this, I
removed the clock and inserted a bunch of LEDs, but that was a long time ago
when LEDs weren't as bright or as sophisitcated.
