Hello all

I'm about to remove the transaxle on my 924S

I need to get the right tools before I start the Job.

I have not got any spline keys and was wondering what size I need for the CV
joint bolts.

Also the pinch bolt on the Drive Shaft (inside th inspection cover)

Thanks all

Rich

The CV joints are a "Volkswagon CV joint 12 point tool" -- or that's
what I said when I went to NAPA and bought mine...

The drive shaft connector is a regular allen head, and I BELIVE it's
8mm, but not 100% positive.

I also believe that two of the bolts that hold the transaxle to the
torque tube flange are also allen heads -- probably 10mm.  And I think
the transaxle drain plug is 17mm.

p.s.  the bolts on the drive shaft coupling have to come all the way
out before it will slide...

second that "all the way out" statement - don't learn that the hard way like
I did.

I got the spline tool at Kragen

well,  Kragen and Napa are auto parts retail locations that have outlets all
over the country.  I would expect that you have similar outfits in the UK,
though never having to repair a car on that side of the pond, I can't say
that I'd remember any names - I guess the point is that it's a common tool.
In fact here we have an outfit called "harbor frieght" that sells cheap junk
tools from china - they have a set of those wrenches for (as I recall) under
$10 - you may have a simialr outfit as well, or if all else fails, order
from harbor frieght or a US location and have it shipped to one of us to
forward to you - a USPS small flat rate envelope to the UK is under $10 and
can take up to 4 pounds of stuff (that's pounds mass, not pounds sterling)

Thanks Bill

I am sure I can get the tools here - I just wanted to make sure I was
ordering the correct ones !

Also, I have heard of harbor freight - and would probably go for better
quality ;-)  Last thig I want is for snapped off bits and chewed up bolts
because I bought cheap tools .
