My 1985.1 944 seems to be very loud within the interior. I was just
wondering if this is normal? Is there anyway to make them more
quieter?
this usually happens because of an aftermarket muffler, bad motor mounts, or
broken balance shaft belt -

It can also be due to a badly sealing rear hatch, this can be easily
readjusted so long as the adjusters have not rusted up.
New adjusters a inexpensive.
My car is quite quiet.

Loudness is also a subjective quality -- my advice would be to find
someone with another 944 and compare it.
Mine, for example, is quite loud, but it has an open exhaust (no cat/no
muffler), so your car probably isn't that loud.
You could have an exhaust leak or a crack in the header, or something
like that.
Being a sports car, it will never be as quiet as a Honda or anything...
Good luck!

I agree with Bill. After discovering broken balance shaft belts on my '89,
I was amazed at how much quieter it was.
