Anyone ever installed a Schnell short shift kit on their cars?  Is it an
improvement, or does it make it notchy and harder to shift?

no, I haven't installed that kit - but the 944 does not have a long or
sloppy shift - I'd suggest not messing with it - note that there is a major
wear point at the lever itself, see the DIY on my web page for how to fix
this - if you haven't been taking care of that pivot pin, it will be badly
worn and will make the shift very sloppy.  (my web site, wbnoble.com, browse
around for the article, it's there somewhere)
