I have a chrome/stainless trim piece at the rear of the exhaust/muffler.
Is this easy to remove and replace?
The car is a 1987 and I suspect the exhaust is original.
Alec
you might be able to get it off, but you'd destroy it - I have one from a
car where the muffler rusted out - if you want it for $5 plus shipping, just
let me know.

Thanks for the offer but I am in the UK so shipping etc would not justify
the trouble.
I was really interested in how it is held on, and how to get it off without
destroying the Muffler/Exhaust.

I took one off my 1983 944 - the chrome tip is just pressed on. To get it
off involved forcing the tip off banging away with chisels - destroying it.
I took it off and replaced it with a new Porsche tip for beauty reasons.
BUT this will definitely not clog your exhaust.
A clogged exhaust is caused by your CAT CONVERTER - which is known to clog
after 400K miles or so...happened to me too. A new CAT and my Porschie
breathed a lot easier.
