DME Relay. Always carry a spare. It should be easy to find online with a
Google search.

It definitely sounds like a fuel system problem - either the
injectors or the system is losing pressure for some reason.

If the relay doesn't work--- go to the fuel pressure regulator--- I was
having a similar problem--- started with the fuel filter, opened up the gas
tank to see if there was a blockage in there, bought a relay, even thought
at one time that it was a temp sensor--- was the pressure regulator.  Check
out Clark's Garage (if you can't find it direct go to Pelican Parts) great
source of information.

Good luck--

suggestion,  clean the rotation sensor connections (both of them) where
they connect at the top rear of the engine....a cruddy connection wil
raise the resistance seen by the DME and cause an imtermittant
condition, can be made worse by humidity, temperature or other
environment  and may not recur for sometime...

It takes 3 thing for an engine to run , FUEL, AIR, SPARK,  i WOULD CHECK 1ST LIKE YOU SAID FUEL, BAD OR COLLASPED HOSE, sometimes the hose comes apart from the inside and makes like a check valve of some sorts. Also check fuel pressure. If ok there check SPARK, AIR FLOW METER, ECT.. Hope this helps you some. Later Jack.

definately fuel regulator...............exact same symptoms as a
friends of mine.
If fuel pressure is not regulated  and becomes too high, injectors
draw more current. DME recoginzes this increase and shuts the
injectors down.
Check fuel rail pressure.

good luck

Really an easy way to check the fuel regulator w/o any special meters or
equipment. Pull the electrical plug off of one of the injectors. If the
car then runs, it's the regulator.

I just finished working on an intermittent problem on my 944. I checked the
connection between the negative of the battery and the engine. There was
more resistance there than to chassis ground. What I finally found was that
the connection to the engine had become corroded. After cleaning it has been
fine. The connection is near the position sensors on the bell housing.
However it is on the engine.
