Can anyone recommend any good 4x6 door replacement speakers that will
fit easily in my '85/1 944? I purchased a pair of Pioneer TS-G4640R
4x6 speakers, but they did not fit well at all. I went on
Crutchfield.com and entered my year, make, and model, but it said
there are no speakers that would fit in the doors of my '85/1. It
seems it's very difficult finding a good pair of 4x6's that will just
"drop in" the door speaker locations.

After doing some research, I came across the Kenwood KFC-4625C 4x6
speakers. They are supposedly made for European cars. Does anyone know
if these fit good? I would also like some other recommendations for
4x6 door speakers that will easily fit. Thanks.

The Kenwoods fit easily into my 86 doors.

I've also tried a couple of different Pioneers in the front, the depth is
the problem because of the window guide rail.

Other makes that work are Alpine & Blaupunkt but I have no experience with
these.

the problem is the depth, the max thickness for the "standard" front
door installation is a bit less than 1-5/8" and replacement speakers
MUST be the European oval shape – not rectangular. The replacement
speakers must also have a thin steel mounting frame like the OEM speaker
- not a thick plastic one

What model of Kenwood speakers do you have? Are using the stock grilles?
