I had mine replaced recently, they theaded a piece of brass picture wire
though
the sealant at the bottom corner of the screen, and then with one person in
the car
and one outside they ran around the the whole windscreen using wire as a
saw.
It still splinteered and split in places, and some shards of glass were
still left in the
the sealant afterwards, that had to be scraped off.
The trim was removed before they started, but i am not sure if the trim is
actually
bonded to the windscrren on later cars (mine is an 82).
I don't know what they bonded the new screen in with, but they did say it
was different to the original stuff, and I had to wait at least two hours
before
using the car afterwards, and if the car was fitted with airbags it would
have been
at least Five hours.

Thanks Darren for the tip, started to try this method but didn't work out
very well..
I think I don't have the experience for this.
But along the job I found out (and some help from my wife...grin) I tried an
electrical paintstripper (kinda hairdryer but hotter) and heated the window
where it was kitted down (some kind of black glass gum, dunno ) and slowly
pushing the window out with a lot of big screwdrivers. That did the job and
with some patience I got the front shield off in one piece..!
Thanks for your concern and advice.
