Today I took my 86 944 in to have a set of new tires put on, but quickly
discovered that I did not have a key to get the lugnut locks off so we could
remove the tires. Is this a universal key that I can pick up at any Porsche
parts department or will I need to just drill the locks off?

Try a small paper clip, the locks are very easy to pick.

a locksmith can make a key for you for about $5 or $6 - it's worth it, a new
set of locks will cost you more, and they don't make those key type locks
any more.
