hello, can someone assist me with this. The red center light(look like an
exclamation mark)that sit above the signal lights stayed on while i'm
driving.  It doesn't light up when I start the vehicle......I checked the
fuse box and everything is in place. I looked at the service mannual and
it doesn't really show any troubleshooting tips on this. Any information
is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You can a go a few ways with this.

First of all the ! or Actung light as we like to call it, is a systems
monitor. Airbags, ABS, E-Brake engaged, etc... If a fault is found it will
come on.

The first and easiest thing to check is if there is an accompanying light.
Is the brake or airbag light on also?

If not, you will have no choice but to have your mechanic put it on the
diagnostic computer and tell you what the fault code is. If it is an easy
fix, pay him the $70.00 and fix it yourself, if it is one of the system
computers or an airbag sensor, you may have to have someone else fix it.

What country/state are you in?

check to make sure your emergency brake is all the way down,  my 86
would kick the attention light on as I was driving.... also check your
brake fluid level as that will also kick on the light,   the "normal"
warning lights that also go on with the "attention light " are very dim
when driving in daylight so you really have to look for the "real" issue.

I don't think the '87 944 NA returns error codes.

Thanks for the info.  Fyi, the The instrument(!)light is a warning light
for any type of problem on vehicle.  In my case it was a wiring problem
for temp gauge.

Thanks again.

Got Heat?  Hot air blowing out the vents no matter what you do? even
with the AC on full blast?  This could be the infamous "heater clip
failure".  The good news:  it's real cheap and easy to fix!

Is the fan blowing even though it's switched off?

I vote for the plastic clip.
Put your head down by the gas pedal and turn and look behind the center
console.  There is a flapper door that is held onto a rod by this cheap
plastic clip. The clip breaks and the door flops around so you can't stop
the heat flow.  The Porsche dealer will usually just give you one or maybe
charge you a couple of bucks.  It will be the cheapest fix you will ever
have.
Good Luck!

I replaced the plastic clip as recommended. That was it.  Everything works
fine....thank you very much for the suggestion fellows.
