my daughters 944S has an intermittant dead spot on acceleration - if it were
a carburetted car, I'd figure it was a throttle pump not working - you press
on the gas and there is a loss of power, then after a bit it catches and
pulls normally. Can you think of anything except the airflow sensor that
would be a likely culprit? I'm thinking that I'll open the sensor up and
clean the element (not hard to do) and lubricate it with some conductive
lube and see if that fixes it - it's a high mileage car so there could well
be a lot of wear on the internal resistance element in the sensor

There is a good piece on the web about fixing the airflow sensor - the
guy's name is wilkes - the link may be www.wilkes.com for all I know - you
can find it via Google.

I successfully repaired a deadspot on an 87 S and reported results here -
opened airflow sensor (carefully) and repositioned the ceramic circuit board
just a little so the wiper rubbed on a new area.
