Greetings ,
I'm noticed several places selling rebuild kits for front lower ball-
joints on late model 944s. (the ones that are only generally available with
a $500 lower control arm attached)

Has anyone purchased and used one of these kits ?

Thanks ,

I have. The hard part was getting the retaining ring out of the back side.I
ended up drilling the clip in two and pulling the pieces out that way. Went
through several bits, be very patient. I also ended up with a small hole in
the aluminum where I had to get to the fattest part of the clip.

Putting it back together was a breeze. The replacement retaining ring goes
in with a set of retaining snap ring pliers. If I did it over, I probably
would have gotten the more expensive rebuild kit with the brass pieces. May
do that next time.

I have done it using the kit with the brass races - available from an
outfit in Towson, Maryland - you can find them on the web.

I didn't have any problem doing the work, really.  Just for info the
balljoint races in the stock arms are plastic.  Don't wait until they are
completely shot to rebuild them as the ball joints can mess up the
aluminum control arms or pull out of them if you let things get too bad.
