Sensor location

I can't locate the temp. sensor that fires up the cooling fans.  87 944s Any
help?  Thank you.

it is mounted to the radiator on the left side (looking toward the front
of the car, under the upper radiator hose.,  can only be reached from
under the car, with the fans and fan frame removed
