yea, I?m gonna keep it, im in tech. school for automotive right now
and I do all the work myself. I would like to start doing stuff to it
performance wise, were should I start? all it has right now is a cold
air intake, what should be next?

if you want to destroy the value of the car, make a lot of performance mods.
I would recommend that you learn your trade by making it 100% stock and
keeping it that way - you can outrun most cars on a curvy road with a dead
stock 944 without even trying. If you want to drag race, get an oldsmobile

The truth is there aren't many significant performance upgrades for
the non-turbocharged 944. You can tighten up the handling a bit with
suspension mods, use a chip to move the torque band around a bit
(FRWilk), but overall the car is better accepted for what it is. Of my
3, the 944 is the one driven most often and I've got a sneaking
suspicion a 968 would have me kicking the other two out of the stable
and becoming a one Porsche man.
If you're into performance upgrades, your best bet is to sell your
944 and get a 951 (944 turbo) to play with. A ratty one can be found
cheap, and the fixing up and upgrading would be more rewarding.
