So I get a new coil---- last night I had changed the pressure damper--- got
new plugs and now at least it will start to run then seems to flood--- the
exhaust smell of gas----Haven't yet gone to the book--- we'll
see---frustrating---

I would have changed the regulator instead of the damper. Unplug one
injector and see if it stays running. If it does it's a bad pressure
regulator.

Jack - I changed the regulator about 10k miles ago--- it just ain't been
that long.  Could it have gone bad--- yep--I'm still working on it---I
changed the coil which I tested as bad--- now it seems to be running too
rich (from the smell) -- It's got me baffled for now but tonight I take a
break and back at it tomorrow.  Thanks for the suggestion however--- I may
come back to it---

So after going through everything I could I finally gave up- put the car on
a trailer and towed it to Rennworks.  They will diagnose(sp?) tomorrow for
$110 and let me know.  The first thing they suggested was that it may be
nothing more than a reference sensor.  If not that it could get expensive.
I guess it goes with the territory.  For general information I will report
what they find.  Thanks for all the suggestions.
