Hi All,

I am a proud new owner of an '88 944 Turbo. I am looking to install a
new detachable-face cd player. I am looking at the current Blaupunkt
line but have noted that some complain about it not having enough
power/volume.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks,
G

first, get decent speakers, then worry about the rest - the original
speakers (at least from teh factory in late 85) were horrible - installing
6X9 in the rear and good ones in the front made a huge difference (and you
an do it without cutting the trim in the back, you probably dont need to cut
metal either, since I installed 6X9 in an 87 without any cutting at all

Go for an MD player rather than CD - the clearence between the disk and
gear stick is much better when removing the disk. You'll need some way of
recording MDs at home, of course, but costs are not wild for MD equipment
or the disks themselves. Other advantages of MD? They are truly re-
recordable and editable in a way that a regular CD-R is not; They're much
more robust, and seem to survive rattling around in the glove compartment
even without the cases; and they are much smaller, allowing them to be
stowed away more efficiently.
