The paint code on my car is obliterated so I'm hoping one of you kind people
can tell me what the color is called or possibly know the paint code.

The car is a 1989 Porsche 944 S2. It is painted a medium-dark blue with what
I think is a fine grain metalflake (I may be wrong about the metalflake).
Its not a pure blue, its more of a gray/silver blue.
Any help identifying the name or code of this paint will be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks.

You might get a more accurate response if you post a link to a pic of your
car ;-)

If the option sticker on the inside of the back (number plate) panel is
faded or missing have a look in the front of the service manual - the same
sticker should be in there.

I have an '89 2.7 in the same colour judging by your description, and having
looked online it's described as 'Dove Blue Metallic' which was only
available for the one model year AFAIK. I've met a few people with cars of
different years to mine but the same colour who describe it as 'Baltic
Blue'.

A good bodyshop will be able to 'read' the paint colour with a lightmeter
though, it'll have faded over time anyway so this is the best way to match
the paint adjacent to the area you want to spray regardless of the paint
code, and bear in mind that it's probably clearcoated too (mine is).

Thanks, I found the options list in the book like you said. Its Baltic Blue.
