Car Forum / Porsche / Porshe 944 / December 2005Where to get a good 2.7 Engine in ENGLAND (maybe europe too)?
I have a 1986 944, 2.5 which, long story short... the engine is kaput... I want to replace it with a 2.7, preferrably with the 2.7 chip too if possible. I am looking for one in england (I live by manchester, but may travel to europe to pick up a gem) and am having no joy on where to source this from. Anyone have any suggestions of where/whom to start? I will be doing the replacement/pickup myself, so just the price of the engine. Not so bad when your Porsche is prone to disaster. Should I even mention it to the insurance company? Funny, but I wasn't 'dodgy' until I moved to this rain infested country. Anyone have a rough guide on how much to pay for a 2.7? I made a couple calls last night and they were coming in at £650 for a 2.5, £750 for a 2.7... bit steep in my eyes... Comments anyone?
