I have a 1986 944, 2.5 which, long story short... the engine is
kaput...

I want to replace it with a 2.7, preferrably with the 2.7 chip too if
possible.

I am looking for one in england (I live by manchester, but may travel
to europe to pick up a gem) and am having no joy on where to source
this from.  Anyone have any suggestions of where/whom to start?

Cheers

Cheers Paul (if anyone else as any more suggestion please do)...

Don't suppose anyone might have a price guide for a 2.7 engine too.  I
will be doing the replacement/pickup myself, so just the price of the
engine.

Thanks again.

A word of caution: Check with the insurance company first, before parting
with your precious cash - they might refuse to insure the vehicle with the
larger engine.

Insurance isn't much of a worry, I will probably ask if there will be a
change, but I am sharing insurance with the GF, we are paying £35/mo
per vehicle with Green Flag breakdown... Not so bad when your Porsche
is prone to disaster.

Should I even mention it to the insurance company?  Funny, but I wasn't
'dodgy' until I moved to this rain infested country.

Anyone have a rough guide on how much to pay for a 2.7?  I made a
couple calls last night and they were coming in at £650 for a 2.5,
£750 for a 2.7... bit steep in my eyes...

Comments anyone?

I paid £700 for a low mileage 2.5.  Excellent condition and still running
well!

I think that is much too dear...
