Firstly, I have a 1983 Porsche 924 that I'm attempting to restore. (I know
their forum is for 944's but the buil seem quite similar so I'm hoping some of
you expects can help me)

The drivers side electric window does not work, I've tried the fuse & switch
and have now decided to try a replacement relay. (Offside works fine...) I've
purchased a relay but cannot find where the little bliter lives. Can anyone
help me out here?

In addition the switch down by the drivers footwell for the boot hatch
release. Does this simply unlock the boot or is it supposed to open the boot
automatically? Either mine isn't working so am looking for advice on what to
check (but thought it would be handy if I knew what it did first!!)

Many thanks to anyone who doesn't mind helping me out.

Cheers
Mike

when you press the switch, you should hear an incredibly loud noise as
the big electric motor located at the rear of the car releases the
latch.  Now the hatch *should* pop open, but usually it just unlatches
unless you've recently siliconed the hatch seal and your hatch struts
are in excellent shape...

Should be located in the fuse box which is mounted onto the outside of the
left-hand foot-well. If not, I've no idea either!

The passenger (offside) power window routes through the driver side
relay (learned that the hard way over).  Since the passenger side
works, it is unlikely that the relay is the issue.  Having said that,
since you know the passenger side relay and switch are good, swap
connecters and see if the driver side suddenly works.  That will narrow
it down to one of those two items and you can play from there.

More likely, it will still not function.  My money would be on a bad
motor in the drivers door.  Slightly more expensive, and more annoying
to work on, but also a more likely culprit.  Good luck.

the switch in the footwell activates a motor that will unlatch the
hatchback - the gas springs then raise it up.  if the springs are
weak, and they almost always are, then it won't raise, and will
probably just re-latch.  So, if you hear a motor run, and it will open
if someone lifts up when you press the switch, the latch is working
and you need to change the gas springs.  shop around, there is a wide
range of prices.

Cheers for all the advice.

The switch has been tried on the drivers side, so will the very helpful
knowledge about the offside using the same relay, it looks like I'm
replacing the motor. Cheers for the help.

As for the boot hatch, I can hear all the noises so will get someone to
help me out to test lifting it whilst the button is beign pressed.

Thanks again to everyone who's helped!

Cheers
