What kind of power steering and break fluid is recommended for a 1986 944?
I've been told that there are certain brands to use and to avoid, can anyone
shed light on this?

DEXTRON ATF for PS,
any decent DOT 3 or 4 brake fluid.

BUT   THIS IS IMPORTANT - bleed brakes yearly (or at least every two years)
to replace all old brake fluid.  Bleed clutch as well.  your calipers and
cylinders will last nearly forever that way.
