I have a 2004 Jayco and I recently tore the canvass while trying to open it
up.  I took it to the dealer for an estimate and they quoted me $800.  Can
anyone recommend a better deal in the central Texas area?

If you can email me with a VIN, I can check and see what type of price I
can get you.  Also, is the tear small enough that you could buy a patch
kit and just fix the hole?

My parents had a 1968 Starcraft...when they got rid of it not too many years
ago, they claimed it was "held together by hot glue and iron on patches".
Always worked for them...doubt they spent anywhere near $800 on those items.
:-)

You can sew it up yourself or you can buy a replacement piece for I'm
guessing $300.  Try canvassreplacements.com.  I called a couple of
places to get a price for a friend for a full set of replacement pcs.
made of sunbrella for an 84 Coleman Williamsburg...the prices were
$1003 and $908...$800 sounds a bit steep for a repair.

www.bearcreekcanvas.com  has some good prices and I have heard they
offer a good product.

I am a delighted customer of Bear Creek canvas. Got it 2 years ago,
installed in no time, and it is wonderful. About $825. They are very
helpful there with little tips also. It fits like it was made for my
old Starcraft. Which it was.
Having said all that, I wouldn't think your canvass is all that bad
that it needs replacement at less than two years old. $800 seems like
a ripoff just to repair a tear. Any tent or awning shops where you
live?
