Went last year. Stayed at Hadley's Point -- which was fine. Nice people,
nice sites, shuttle to town, walk to beach, inexpensive. We did all the
touristy things -- whale watch, Bar Harbour, lobster feed, Cadillac at
sunrise. Quick look at Acadia. We liked it so much that we knew very early
on that we were coming back and tossed our check list of things to do.
I think we're going back this year. And I want the campground to be the
main attraction. I want to be on the ocean, see the sunrise from my
campfire. A heated pool would be nice.
Anyone with first hand experience care to help me choose a campground or
even a specific site? We went in August and had no bug problems. I'd be
interested in best/worst times to visit. We'll be there for a week or so.
thanks...len!

Try Mount Desert Campground on Somes Sound. You also might want to
check our web site and go to the Acadia page.

It is a great place and we have stayed there for mor ethan 10 years.
I would call quickly since returning campers have preference. Their web
site is

They allow nothing larger than 20 feet the towing size. Our pop up
opens to 26 but that is not a problem. Make sure you tell them what you
have and how large it is when you open it.
Best of luck...RCL
