First of all, a hearty thanks to all those who have supplied help and
discussion.  I very much appreciate it.  I'll give a beer to any of
those who show up on my doorstep one day holding an email that proves
they helped.  Maybe two.  Hell, I'll give anyone a beer who shows up.
Just bring chips and pretzels...and maybe a steak.
I (and the g/f) am off to look at a 98 Jayco Eagle 12 UDK this weekend.
He's asking $4250, but will go $4k, I think (I'd like to talk him down
further, but that's the way I am - Cheap.  In fact, I've been called the
missing Marx brother, Cheapo).  Of the three or four emails sent, this
was the only one to reply.  It's perhaps a bit past the price range, but
it has everything.  Hey, were just looking, right?
Yes, I've told her that's more stuff to break.  She knows this, but
she'll be dazzled by the showers, king sized beds, hot water,
refridgerator and heater.  I happen to like the dual propane tanks, the
20 gallon water tank and the trailer brakes.  Did I mention that it
comes with a new and unused porta-potty?  That's a strong seller
there... ;~P
I'm trying to line up a coupla more to make a weekend of it.  I'll let
y'all know what I find.  I've told her repeatedly to look at renting,
but who listens to me anyways?  Hello...?

Hello...?

Crap, I lost em...<click>

Welcome to RVing. You will soon find out that the more you can bring along with
you, the more you will bring along. <vbg>

Hi:

We bought our pop-up in April 1999.  We spent the first 4 nights sleeping
in
the driveway.  Man it was cold.  The wife and kids would wake up and
beeline
for the house.  I told them it felt great - of course, I was just waiting
for my wife to turn the heat up and get the house warmed up!!!!!

I bought tons of items and I have to tell you some we never used.  Instead
of hard plastic plates and cups - everything is paper so it can go in the
campfire.  Found that washing all this stuff after each meal was a pain.

So many other things that we no longer use.  Make it as simple as
possible.
Enjoy and relax!

Bob

Haven't you ever heard of electric blankets...
I am assuming you do have electricity in your home, and you could
always snake a heavy duty extension cord to the pop-up...
Flannel sheets help too, as does area rugs for the floor...
We use paper plates too, and a microwave oven...
Just mly 2 cents worth which nobody asked for anyway

Hey Leon:

Well, it was the first few days that we had the camper and we just piled
tons of blankets on top of us!

Now we have 2 space heaters which make all the difference!

My pop-up has a really good propane heater, but I still have
a 750W/1500W electric heater. This allows me to go longer
on each tank of propane.

In order to make my bed more comfortable, I purchased a
full size memory foam mattress that is 3 inches thick. On top
of this I have a sleeping bag that is rated down to 20F.
Makes for a real comfortable place to sleep and makes it
a lot more fun to go camping. I sleep on top of the sleeping
bag and cover up with a blanket. This makes the pop-up
almost as comfortable as being at home.

When we first camped with our pop-up, it was sleeping bags left over
from our tenting days.  Then as we moved along, we got a microwave,
coffeemaker, electric skillet, and then the blanket.
Some time we like to build a fire and cook over it, especially with the
grandkids along, but otherwise, we just use our trailer for a motel on
wheels.
Of course, we always try for hook-ups, but are prepared to rough it if
we don't get a site with those.
Today, we have many many options. and no one camping style is for
everyone.
This is a great forum, with so much help ..
Thanks everyone
