Does anyone have experience installing a grab handle to a trailer? How is it
secured - are there tricks to screwing it into the trailer walls? Should I
just pay to get one installed?

Hi Don,
Depends on the walls.
You need a secure mount. If the material behind your handle is just panel,
you may need to go all the way through and mount a plate behind the wall.
If you can hit a support structure you may get awaty with fastening to it.

don.. check the wall where you want to mount it, it could be a solid (wood)
frame around the door, it could be just an aluminum skin on one side and
paneling on the other..
A friend wanted one on his trailer, the dealer wanted $150 installation, because
they would have to open up the wall at the door frame and put a solid wood piece
behind it..
He opted to replace his stock handle with the swing-out one that he had picked
before, and the installation went down to $25... (and for $25, I'd let THEM have
the liability of drilling holes in a trailer)
