Dropped water tank

Hi all,

Just got back from  few days camping in Maine.  While up there I left the
water hookup on after our water tank was full and <BANG!>, the tank must
have ballooned enough from the high pressure that it snapped the bracket
fastener holding it to the frame.
Anyway, I removed the tank for travel since it couldn't be refastenened,
good idea of the wife for me to bring my toolbox (yeah, I'm out of mantown
for that one!).  Now when reconnecting there are four wire leads on the
side.  I know the first one is orange and the last one is white, what are
the middle two?  Yellow and green or green and yellow?  This left-to-right
order when looking at the tank

Also, anyone devise a way to simply use a direct connection to the campsite
water hookup and not use the tank?  There are three hoses, one larger than
the other two.  The large is for filling and one of the smaller ones is to
the sink, what is the third?  Simple overflow?  I'm thinking of a quick
connector to the hose and a reducer but this third hose has me wondering.

Oh yeah, this is on a '99 Jayco Laurel Herritage.

On my popup it is the grey water drain from the sink.

Pressure?

A typical RV water tank is NOT designed to be pressurized.  When filling my
tank, when it is full, the water simply OVERFLOWS BACK out the inlet.

Although I can't imagine how you would do it, if you are connecting to your
water tank so that it pressurizes, you are doing it wrong.

Anything here would be a guess.  Simply connect them.  Then, while filling the
tank, observe the monitor panel to see which LED (indicator light) comes on in
which order.  If they come on OUT of order, switch the two leads.

Yeah, the RV industry YEARS ago.  A "City Water" connection is present on
virtually EVERY camper made in the last 30 years - or longer.

> There are three hoses, one larger than the other two.

This would be the "gravity fill" or "Fresh Water" inlet to your water
tank - that does (or SHOULD) NOT pressurize the tank.

> The large is for filling

Oops.  You already have that figured out.  I'm still trying to understand how
you might have pressurized the water tank - IF you did.

> one of the smaller ones is to the sink

To the sink WHAT?  If it is down LOW on the side of the camper, it is probably
the sink's gray water DRAIN.  Open it up and pour some water down the sink
drain and notice from which outlet the water emerges.

> what is the third?

That would leave the "City Water" inlet - to which you would attach a HOSE for
a DIRECT connection to a pressurized water source.

The "City Water" inlet should be CLEARLY marked as such, especially on a
barely 6-year-old camper.  In fact, ALL these inlets/outlets should be CLEARLY
marked.  If they are not, you should contact Jayco to determine which is which.

Good luck.
