Hi, just looking for advice on what type of caulking to use on the seams of
a pop up roof.  I tried the regular silicone caulking and it turned an
ungodly black color from dirt.  Want to redo it with the proper stuff this
time, and need ideas.  I am thinking there is some kind of specialized
caulking for RV's.....

Thanks.

i just got my first popup and the fellow that i bought it from told me that
every year.. he re-does his caulking with a latex based sealant..

actually thats what i should do..  i still haven't gotten to it.   i think
its going to be a pain taking hte old stuff off tho :/

his old caulking has not turned black.. its very white.

We use a lap caulk. It stays flexable with age. If you go to an RV dealer
they would have a product that they found works.

Never, ever use silicone caulking for the exact reason you found out;
it gets moldy. Lap sealant is the best, followed closely by acrylic.

I found Premium Elastomeric Latex Sealant (couldn't find Lap).  Is this the
right stuff? It says it's permanently flexible and mildew resistant.
How do I get the old caulk off?

I also need to do the same. If they were built right to start with it would
have been alot better.
