Hey:
I Have been a tent camper for years, but for the past couple  of seasons my
wife has been reluctant to head out.  She kept hinting about a pop up to get
up off the ground... so I caved and purchased a used 92 Starcraft Metorite..
it has a few issues that I am trying to sort out.. and am looking for
suggestions..
here are the issues

there are minor wear through spots on the canvas on all 4 corners of the
bunk ends. I purchased some canvas and fabric glue and I plan on patching
and strengthening the top 8 -10 inches (is this a good Idea)

the unit cranks up nice and smooth but when fully cranked I have to manually
rasise the roof about a 1/2 inch to get the door to snap into place up top.
where do I start with this?

the previous owner cut the starcraft harness and put a flat 4 wiring
adapter.. I would like to get it back to normal so I can put a battery in
and use the 12v converter/lights

I would like to reseal the edges of the roof and body what type of
silcone/sealant should I use?

The pop up roof vent is in poor shape and looks to leak a bit is his a
starcraft only piece or where can I order something like this online?

I am sure to have more but htis is a good start ..
thanks
Chris

I suspect that will be a temporary fix at best, and it will become
annoying after a while. If you are willing to invest a little,
complete re-canvasing is quick and easy. Mine was $725 at Bear Creek
Canvas. And an hour of my labor to install it.

No.

Iron-on patches don't last on material that is constantly flexed by the wind
and, of course, the action of cranking-up and cranking-down.  Replacing the
tenting is a worthwhile, if expensive, investment.

This sounds exactly as it worked on my 1987 Starcraft.  It's normal.

Unless you are very skilled at both 12VDC and 120VAC RV systems, this should
be done by a professional.

Good luck!

Go to a fabric store and purchase either heavy denim or heavy canvas in fact
the pieces that the pros put in my new canvas are canvas with a waterproof
material on it. This is to keep the bunk corners from coming through and
they hang down to stop seepage under the corners. Use a good canvas glue or
sew them in place.
As long as the canvas is in good shape no need to replace it if it starts to
tear then you may wish to replace the bunk end canvas only. Bear Creek
Canvas does both full replacement and what they call wing replacement.
One other suggestion if you have a awning shop in town they can sew in
patches on those spots and are usually very reasonable on repairs.

My first pop-up was a 93 Meteorite.  Never had problem with it.

You should patch only the part that has wear.  I would not extent the
patch to 8-10" if the wear is not that long.  Special Canvass glus
should do the job.

I also needed to raise the roof so that the doof get into place. Sounds
normal.

If you can locate the old harness wiring, you should be able to
reconnect it as it was before using the wires color.  Else, I'd go at a
starcraft dealer.

The roof vent is not "starcraft made"  you can purchase a new one at any
RV or Wal-mart store.  If it's only the cover that seems to have broken,
you don,t have to replace the whole thing, you can just replace the cover.

For the Sealant, RV shops sells special RV caulking... not sure how
special it is... you can also use DAP sealant or Butyl caulking.  Either
way, it's a once a year job anyway.

enjoy the pop-up...
