I need a new battery for a  2000 Coleman Niagara. What would be the best
battery to buy. Thanks for any advice you may have.

My 2005 Fleetwood Niagara uses one made by Interstate Batteries.

We went camping 2 weekends ago, and our original finally crapped out (5 yrs
old Interstate group 24). We were near a small town, only battery we could
find was at a small shop (no Wally world close) ended up getting an AC Delco
group 27. This worked fine, but had to buy a bigger battery box once we got
home. Anyway, know we have "more power uggh ughh"  Would have bought another
Interstate if it was available. HTH

They market "deep cycles", eh?

Specifically, you have more capacity.  You won't regret it, particularly if
you prefer "dry" camping - and running the furnace.  You'll probably get at
least one more night of furnace operation before having to recharge with the
bigger battery.

After the Group 24 battery died on our first camper, I have used Group 27 (and
larger) ever since.

It's entirely possible and even likely that you may HAVE bought one MADE by
Interstate but branded AC Delco.

I even used two, 6-volt golf car batteries once but was never able to find a
battery box to fit them.  As such, the small amount of electrolyte that
"sloshed" out during travel caused bad rusting in that area of the trailer
frame and made a bad stain on the concrete where the camper is stored.

I am again using a single, Group 31 battery (in a box).

Interstate doesn't manufacture batteries, only markets them.

Honestly, GO out and buy an OPTIMA deep cycle, it will be the last one you
buy for the Niagra, They are costly at about 140.00 US but well worth the
investment. I have one in both my trucks and one in the poop up! We used the
one in the pop up for two weeks camping in the mountains WE had a fan, a
radio, lights and a 13" TV/VCR running, the battery never failed us!
