Thanks everyone who's chimed in with ideas for my drawbar/hitch problem. It
seems that maybe the coupler just doesn't fit the drawbar correctly.

Strange since they're both labeled 2" but I'll keep working on it.

It's weird cause if I adjust the coupler to get rid of any play it won't
snap down over the ball at all. But I can loosen it enough to fit and not
pop off but then it has too much play...Luckily I have the patience of
Job...;^)

It does seem you need the 2 5/16 ball for that hitch.

John... assuming that by "drawbar" you mean the receiver (the solid square bar
that slides into the receiver and has the trailer ball on it... if it doesn't
fit pretty tight, it doesn't fit..
I've had them on several trucks and unless it's well greased, it's a bitch to
just slide it in and out enough to line up the locking pin..

Maybe someone got mixed up on the "inside" and "outside"  diameter (id. & od.)
of the hitch components? *g*

Your description makes me think that the ball is maybe one size to small.
Like inch and seven eights????
Try with another 2 inch ball and see what happens.

Still thinking what is the chance the coupler is 2 and five eights? or is
that three eights??

Sounds like it may have been damaged in use.  That would not be hard if you
have towed with it with 1/2" of play.
