Want to sell my '02' Coleman Niagra and have a couple questions. First of
all Nada shows the price at $8370-10,105. I want to get $9500, doe this
sound reasonable enough? Next question concerning selling, is it reasonable,
if I take a check, to tell buyer I'll deposit the check and call you when it
clears then you can come get it? Just want to eliminate the chance of
getting screwed here. Thanks for any advice.

Most banks will tell you whether there are sufficient funds to cover a
check if you call and inquire.

Selling in the fall (or close to it) will bring LESS money for a camper. Add
to that the recent spike in gas prices and you will probably have to settle
for less, possibly a LOT less. :(
If you can afford to sit on it until spring, you will likely get more money
for it.

Being cautious in this case is a GOOD IDEA.
As Frank said, while the buyer is waiting in the driveway, you can go into the
house and call the bank. They won't give you any PERSONAL information about
the buyer but they will verify if there are sufficient funds to cover the
check.
Given sufficient funds, you can turn the camper (and title) over to the buyer.
*BUT* be prepared to RUN (do not walk) to the bank to cash the check once they
tow the camper away. I did this very thing with a used car I sold.
You can also insist on a cashier's check (certified check) or CA$H. Of
course, you will have to give the buyer not only the camper but a TITLE that
is obviously free and clear as well as a bill of sale (you'll both want a
copy).
You can ask YOUR bank for their advice for conducting this transaction.
Good luck!
:)

i bought my pop up over the net and what i did was leave an electronic
deposit .. and when i went to pick it up, i brought a Bank Check.
basically there's no way that i can think of that i could have screwed the
guy over because when i got the bank check, the money was already taken out
of my account.
so in your case, just request a bank/cashiers check and you should be ok.

Lots of phony cashiers or bank checks floating around.

Like kamyar, have them get a bank check.
It's simple and cheap, only takes a minute or two. If they won't do
that, they intended to screw you over, and find another buyer.
Like Jim, I think this is a very bad time to sell.

Just insist on a money order or cashiers check. No way would I accept a
personal check. Never sign the title over until you have money in hand.
