Thought I'd share this funny story, so we have been camping for years
right, you all know the story, started with a tent, bought a bigger tent
etc......so to did we. So in 2003 we took the plunge and bought our first
brand new pop up, a 2003 Starcraft 1701, a modest start. So every year the
RV store where we bought our P/U has a spring and fall open house, and we
always go just to look around. So Sunday was an absolutely perfect fall day
hear in southern Ontario, what a better day to dream of next years
adventures. Well we had been talking about upgrading all summer, kids
getting bigger, the puppy grew into a BIG DOG and now space seems to be at a
premium, and oh yeah a furnace would be great since we do enjoy thoose late
fall camping trips in Muskoka. So that all in mind we struck out to the
dealer, "just looking" right, well within 2 seconds of hitting the lot we
zeroed in on the 2005 pop ups......all tagged with blow out prices, and be
darned if the didn't have a smoking deal on the exact model with exact
equipment we'd been thinking of upgrading to. Quickly we located the
salesman who sold us or first camper, told him to just you know "work some
numbers", we had already discussed several times in the months prior what
the budget would permit, he must have read my mind......there initial offer
was about $400.00 over our budget, but thinking myself a savvy negotiator I
figured no way they'd want to blow a deal on a past model year trailer with
the 2006's arriving almost daily, I quickly blurted out " if you through in
a roof top 3 bike carrier you got a deal!", what I estimate to be about
$600.00, figuring he'd come back with "we'll split it with you" line, and
I'd probably still go for it, well he came back with paper work in hand and
within 10 short minutes we saw, negotiated and bought our next P/U. So much
for "JUST LOOKING"!!!!
Funny how things just happen, I'm defiantly going to miss our old P/U, it's
almost like we've sold part of our soul, I do hope they find it a good home,
someone to love and care for it like I have done these past couple years,
but we are looking forward to our new digs as well.
I can only speak volumes about Niagara Trailers, they have been honest,
forthright and most professional to deal with, and we have never had a lick
of trouble with Starcraft, so we can only hope things continue this way!
So on to the new trailer, 2005 Starcraft 2407, usual options .fridge,
furnace, electric brakes, a "slide out dinette" <--- really cool option,
slide out ice chest, more room for beer!!! dual LP tanks and oh so much
more.....we are so excited.
We pick it up on October 24th, to bad we won't get a chance to use it this
year, all the provincial parks close after thanks giving(Canadian) so it
will just have to sit till spring,,,,,,,SIGH...........C"MON MAY 24 th!!!!!

Thanks for sharing. Stories like this is why I don't go to the RV
dealer.
"...more room for beer..." Maybe I should take a look at Walt
Michael's. :)

Newfoundland! Yeah, I'd say BIG DOG! :-) Ran into a pair of them at a
petsmart several years ago...great dogs, just not sure I'd want anything
that big... Does he get a bed all to himself? :-)
Enjoy your new camper!

Good story.. hope you enjoy the new rig for many happy trips...
We were at the dodge dealer (2 years ago on monday, it was Columbus Day) getting
our Dakota serviced and looking at a $50k 1 ton cowboy cadillac that was parked
next to my wife's car...
A salesman came up and offered to assistance, we said "thanks, but just
looking"...
He said "everyone is Just Looking for something, let me help you look"... we
thought that was a great line..
To make a day long story short, we left 8 hours later with a "new to us" 1/2 ton
Ram pickup with towing package..

Mac:
When I bought my wife's 1999 Suburban in May '04, and my 2000 Dodge Ram earlier
this year it followed a pattern:
I first went on the internet and found some likely "suspects" on Autotrader and
cars.com. I then went to the dealership and looked the suspects over and test
drove them--didn't buy right then.
I went back to the internet and looked some more--I found our Suburban at a
local dealership and visited there. We went through it without any sales help.
The next night we arranged for a test drive and then bought it.
For my Dodge, I knew what they were like (my buddy has one). So I went directly
to the internet and found a dealer with the model I wanted and went to visit
them and bought it after the test drive.
I wouldn't think about searching for another vehicle without first consulting
the internet and searching around for a while.
FWIW, I'm an easy sale once I've made my mind up and done the research. I just
go in and buy it.

Mark.. that's pretty much how we buy most things... web, research, buy..
This was just a deal that was too good to pass up...
We had just paid off our truck, refinanced the house to pay cash for the TT and
were pretty much free of monthly payments except for the house... the plan was
to save for 9 - 12 months and pay cash for a bigger truck, so we had NO
intention of buying a truck that day..
The deal was just so good, (about $1,800 under low book), that it was worth
having a truck payment to get the truck... and it sure avoided trashing our
Dakota by trying to pull our TT with it..
