I removed the ancient installed toilet in my Toyota Chinook pop-up and
now use one of these two tank portables.  It would be great for a pop up
or even a tent.  The valve between the two halves is closed when not in
use, so there is no chemical odor.  Very neat to empty. Just close the
slide valve between the two halves, unsnap the two halves and carry the
bottom half to a toilet and pour it down.  I found a picture of it at

Just be careful to open the slide slightly BEFORE lifting the top. It may
have built up a bit of pressure internally. Not good if that pressure
releases through slide valve when attempting to flush the contents.

The Thetford pottys have a relief valve to vent prior to emptying.

More accurately, the Thetford Porta Potti<tm> has a VENT button that is
depressed WHILE emptying to facilitate the process.  The two halves must be
separated to access the vent button.
