Well we took the starcraft out for its first trip (used the plate ff the
boat trailer) It rained real hard a good part of the weekend and we kept
dry, the kids had a blast, nothing like a free get out of jail card for the
weekend and big puddles and 20 kids. The camper did great, looks a bit dirty
form mud and tree sap but it cleaned good.

Rain -- that's when a pop-up is worth it's weight in gold. At least
figuatively.
We did a zillion camping trips in tents and of course, got rained on
many a time. I laugh now about soaking wet sleeping bags but I sure
wasn't laughing when it happened.
Glad it worked out for you.

I felt real bad for the tents, it rained so hard there was a river going
down the sites, the site below me had 3 tents, all filled with 3" of water.
They all slep in there cars, If that was me I would have been a bit upset
that the run off went thought the camp sites. To there advantage they all
are in there 20s and just drank thought the night. I have 2 kids so drinking
into the night doesn't work so good. By noon the sun came out and all were
happy. Many of the tenters just left for the night.

Many yarns ago, when we used to tent, I took a small 'entrenching tool' and,
when it looked as if it might rain, dug a shallow trench around the tent
exiting downhill to, hopefully, get the water to run around the tent.
Picking an area that is not too flat and not too steep is the trick, as
well. Of course, the tents also had about 6" of waterproof material up each
side, so it would take a REAL downpour to get wet inside the tent. (This is
if you don't count the entirely canvas test I had as a teen!) I also had a
small tarp that I put under the tent - more to keep it clean when packing up
than to keep water out. I even had some large tarps to tie up in trees over
the tent to keep us drier and to provide a small space OUTside the tent for
the kids to play if it wasn't raining hard. One time we had our 6 kids plus
a foreign exchange student - ranging in age from 1 to 15 - in a large tent
plus two pup tents!! A great time was had by all, but I prefer the pop-up
now that I am getting older!!

It rained real hard where I was staying last night, but other
than waking me up, there wasn't a problem. I just need to
go outside in a little while and open my pop-up in the
driveway so I can clean and dry the exterior. I had to put
it away wet, so it needs to be opened up real soon.

You got that right.
My sister took down her tent in a DRIVING rain, packed it into her car where
it stayed for a mere 24 hours. When we opened it up I could detect the faint
odor of mildew.
Sooner is better.

I opened it up and it is just fine. It has been baking in over
100F temperatures the last few days so it is really dried out.

You should be fine then. In my experience tents are more of a problem with
mildewing up than pop-ups. On our former popup we sometimes had to wait
days to unfurl it again as it still rained when we got home and it was OK
for us. I used to have the problem with tents much more readily.
I had my popup open for a couple of days last week following the previous
weekend's soaking.

We spent the weekend at the campground here in Seward Alaska, and it RAINED
ALL WEEKEND, this weekend my wife finally said that she was glad that we
spent the money on a popup trailer. So it was worth the rain.

Glad you had a good time, in spite of the rain. I know people who
refuse to go if the weather is not just right, and to me that limits
things a lot. I go rain or shine. Never had a leak in my Rockwood and
the riany nights make for good sleeping anyway. Keep it up, and ve fun.
