We have a Maytag 5000BTU through the wall A/C in our Aliner. When we're
dry camping in California in the summer, occasionally it would be nice
to run the A/C for a while.
According to the specs on the Maytag site, this A/C unit pulls 5 amps
at 115 volts, and they say it is 515 watts (isn't watts amps*volts, in
which case shouldn't it be 575 watts?)
Anyway, assuming this is a 575 watt unit, and understanding that when
the A/C powers on it will have a current surge, would one of the Honda
super-quiet generators like the EU1000i (1000w, 8.3amps) be enough, or
should we be looking at the 2000i (2000w 16amps)?
Thanks!

Those are peak specs.
AC Output: 120V
1000W max.(8.3A)
900W rated (7.5A)
It should pull it, but you will probably have to disable the economy
throttle and let it run at fast speed all the time. It won't handle the
start current if it's in low idle. You won't be able to run any thing
else with it. Like the converter on the TT.
You will probably be a lot happier with the 2000. It will pull the load
very easily and have power to spare for anything else you may need to
run.
