Not complaining about anybody in particular, because I have typed several
responses just to delete them before I posted. Is there any chance we can
get back to the subject of pop-up trailers? Isn't there more appropriate
forums for these discussions?
Heading off to Las Vegas in the March and haven't really been able to find
what looks like a nice campground that's not geared towards big-rigs.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I would expect this group to die off very soon thanks to the likes of
Oklahoma Joe. He's set up to crosspost in several off topic newsgroups
and he will drag a lot of garbage into this once fine forum.
The only remedy is for as many people as possible to complain to
Supernews (abuse@supernews.com) about Oklahoma Joe's violation of their
acceptable use policy which can be read here:
http://www.supernews.com/about/aup.html
And of course, never respond to any of his posts or replies because this
not only encourages him but propagates the messages elsewhere causing
problems in other groups as well.
Some highlights of Supernews' AUP:
Articles of an explicitly promotional nature or commercial posts
repeatedly or to groups in which they are not allowed will be treated as
spam and a violation of this AUP in our sole discretion.
Flooding. Posting excessively to a group, particularly off-topic,
frivolous, or reposted content in excess of our internal threshold for
flooding is prohibited.
The continued posting of off-topic messages to a group is prohibited.
So if like alt.rv.pop-up-trailers I would suggest taking a stand before
the group is destroyed. I've seen several of my favorite groups die off
this way and frankly this group has not been very strong for a while
though I still enjoy it very much.

It'll NEVER happen as long as there ONE OTHER person here that like to talk
about camping.
I won't give the jerk(s) the satisfaction of driving me away or killing this
group. Hang in there, gang.

I hate it dave, Im just really happy the Dems won both houses. I will try to
resrain myself. The only campground I know about near vegas is nellis air
Force base, Im retired and always stay on miltary bases when possible. If you
look around lake meade on a map I bet you would find quite few though.

I understand. It takes a good deal of self-control to not respond.
Lately, especially since the election, I have spent more time here setting-up
KILLs for all the off-topics. Once the group is re-filtered, there's NOTHING!
<sigh>

Of course. Sadly, one of the primary reasons I LIKE usenet is the very reason
that so many have left: It's unmoderated and, therefore, attractive to every
low-life, off-topic-cross-posting miscreant out there.
If there was ONE bit of advice I would like others to follow is to NOT
respond, as hard as it may be to do.
You'll notice that virtually ALL of the off-topics are cross-posted to many,
MANY other newsgroups.

Yeah, consult the Trailer Life Campground Directory for a couple venues that
look good then CALL THEM. Explain your desires and they may well be able to
accommodate your needs - keeping you away from the big rigs, if that's what
you want. Good luck, have fun and bring home your shirt - at least!

Put the posters in the ignore file. I did that with Joe
sometime ago. Now that he is cross posting so much to drag
others here, I have had to add many more, but overall it's
worth it.
If everyone just ignored them, they might still cross post
here, but they would eventually get tired of it. Trolls
live for reactions.

Hi,
You got that right. It also shows what kind of person he/they are when
they do not even have the courtesy to not cross post political topics to
an RV web site. They make themselves look bad and make their cause look
even worse.
Of course it could be that they just don't have the knowledge of how
not to cross post, which judging by the way this individual posts is
probably the case.
Take care and Happy Campin...
