How Strong is Scent From Toilets?

We are going to purchase a Rockwood High-Wall series pop-up and first
wish to ask if the toilets of this brand or any other brand of pop-ups
have any odor issues.  My nose does not work so well, but my wife has a
pretty strong sense of smell.  I am concerned that if we get the toilet
option she might smell something during the night.  I doubt it would be
an objectional smell, perhaps just a sickly sweet smell.  I have never
delt with toilets of this manner in my life so do not know what to
expect.  Should we just skip the toilet option and rely on the public
bathroom?

I think I got my answer from looking back through the Google usenet
archives of this forum:  The scent is no problem at all, and you can
vary the chemicals till you find the one you like most.  The bathroom &
shower really is a great convenience as we have two children that use
the bathroom often during the night.  The shower is also great.  So we
shall get both the options, and start enjoying ourselves.

I really like the idea of getting a quality pop-up-trailer rather than a
huge RV setup because I want to go camping often along the California
Big Sur coast and driving up some of those roads has got to be a
nightmare with a longish setup.

A well maintained and properly used RV toilet has virtually NO odor.

No way.  If you value convenience, privacy and cleanliness, you and your wife
will appreciate the on-board toilet.  Go for it.

And don't forget to put your tooth under your pillow so the Tooth Fairy
will leave you a quarter!

No smell at all when you add the right chemicals.

There are even people in this group that forgot, or just didn't get around
to emptying a chemical toilet before putting it away for the winter, and it
still had no offensive odor when the popup was opened come spring!

My wife's nose could put a bloodhound's to shame, and she has yet to mention
any issue with the toilet's smell.  We DO keep "Ozium" handy for the times
we actually are using it.  It is a relatively confined space after all!

I recommend the public bathroom.
