I have a 1992 Rockwood pop up and the lifting system freewheels down
when raised. What could be the problem and solution?

I am not sure if the lift on your Rockwood works the same, but once in
a while, the pawl in the lift system ratchet becomes dislodged.  It
will reset itself if the roof is cranked all the way up and then
cranked tightly at the top.  The pawl has been known to become stuck,
and may need to be cleaned and lubed.

The condition is usually caused by over-cranking when cranking down,
but can happen from the trailer bouncing when on the road.

Because there are a variety of lift systems, this information may not
apply to you.
