This used to be a really active group, with lots of people posting daily..
where have they all gone? In addition, I answered a post here with what
I thought was useful information, only to never recieve an acknowledgement.
Where have all the good people gone?

Cold weather - fewer campers?

Unfortunately this group has just petered out over the past 2 years or
so. I actually no longer own a camper, but still monitor this group
and occasionally give my opinion on questions.

Yes it used to be busy with lots of info. Unfortunately I only use my
PU 2 times a year now. Used to take 2 neighbor kids camping often
but they are all grown up now so I don't have much need for the PU
buts it all paid for so its costing me nothing to keep it. I have
asked a few questions of the group and have received several good
answers from the more experienced PU'ers. Hope we can get it back to
normal here.....
I guess we all need to throw in our 2 cents and make comments here.
I use my PU for ham radio field day week-end and 10 days camping in
the Poconos. Used to keep mine in indoor storage place for $17 a
month but they went out of business so its back in the driveway now.
Have been checking other storage places but they want $50 - 75 a
month to store it out of the weather.
How do you all store yours?

My brother- and sister-in-law store my old PU in a large building in
Maine, with a gazillion other campers of various types, but I don't
know how much it costs. When it was my camper, I stored it in one bay
of my three-car garage, up on blocks to spare the wheel bearings.
We used to camp as a family (started with tents, with 6 kids!!) but did
less and less camping as the kids got older :-(. Now the old PU gets
lots of use in Maine...at least half of the weekends of the summer! I
am so happy that it is still in use by devotees!

For the last few years, I've had mine in an unused dairy barn about 3
miles away. Only $160/yr and I store it there all year.
But, now I have to find a new place, as this deal ends next spring.

I think the biggest reason is that Usenet itself is waning... A number of
ISP's don't even carry newsgroups at all any more, so if you're not a
die-hard fan and find a server, and know how to use the program, etc...
It's a pretty safe bet that Usenet isn't getting many (if any) new users
these days.
Anyway...reason #2 is that someone needs to post a message and start
stirring things up. You know, just like you did!
I've got a nice 1983 19' travel trailer up for sale if someone is looking to
move up from a pop-up. ;-)
