Hello everyone, it's been a long time.  I'm wondering if anyone has
camped at Grayson Highlands SP in Virginia and can let us know their
opinions on the drive up to the campground and the campground itself.

Thanks,
Kimberly

Hi,
Was there in June and again in October. We were coming from Reidsville NC
and the drive was 421 to 21 to 58. The last 10 miles are a steep climb.  But
no-one's pushing you and if you take your time its no problem.  I see every
type of camper from tents to class A's so you can make it too.  The
campground itself is on our favorite list. Water and electric on most sites.
Heated bath houses with hot showers. It's a great autumn, spring , summer
stop.  There's a nice open area with a playground for the kids, they have an
amphitheater with church services on Sunday.  They also plan other events..
hayrides, campfires etc.  But mostly it's a lets go hiking location.  A nice
day hike would be down the main road to Massey gap then along the AT to the
scales trail and back to the campground .  In a month you couldn't hike all
the trails so just go and enjoy.  The scenery is some of God's best.
Happy Camping,
Keith

Thanks Keith.  We are thinking of going there this summer.  We tend to
lean towards Loft Mountain Campground in Shenandoah and I just feel
like a change and this sounds like a similar feel, but w/convenience
of hookups.  Hiking is our middle name when camping so it's good to
know we'll have plenty of options.  Again thanks.
