Update on Coleman Wood Floor Repair

Greetings yet again,

I posted earlier that I had a '98 Fleetwood/Coleman Sea Pine with rot in the
wood floor that deteriorated to the point where the side panel would no
longer attach to the floor.  Initially I was turned down by
Fleetwood/Coleman for the repair to be handled as a warranty issue because
they believed the damage was caused by a leak that I had no knowledge of.
My argument was that the warranty promised to replace the wood without
specifying a cause for the failure or restrictions due to cause - and my
dealer agreed.

Thankfully, and due in great part to the extraordinary effort by my service
advisor Lisa at Liesure Time RV in Winter Garden, FL (giving credit where
credit is due), Fleetwood/Coleman agreed that although they still don't
consider the damage to be a warranty issue they are willing to fix the
damage at their facility in Pennsylvania and split the cost with me,
including shipping.  My total out of pocket expense will be just over
$800.00.  Lisa explained that Fleetwood/Coleman didn't want to leave me
high-and-dry with a camper I was not happy with and a little good will would
go a long way - and believe me it will.  While I would obviously prefer to
have this issue handled as a warranty matter altogether, I am still quite
happy with this plan and with Fleetwood/Coleman's responsiveness and am
comfortable saying so here on a public forum.

Since we are getting our pop-up fixed and are agreeable to how we have been
treated, I feel that I can confidently say that when we go looking for a
bigger unit - whether it is a larger pop-up or a travel trailer - Fleetwood
will be the primary brand we will consider giving our business to again.
We've already looked at several larger campers and like what we see.

The work will take probably two months, and I will be keeping track of how
things are going.  If everthing is done well, I will be the first to say so
here and elsewhere so others can benefit from our experience.

Cheers - Jonathan

Jon, I thought that the floor had like a 25 year warranty????
Structurewood??

My manual is in my camper at the storage facility and Fleetwood has
none of the older manuals online.

The floor has a lifetime warranty.  Based on Jon's previous posts,
apparently Fleetwood's claim was that there must have been a leak that
should have been fixed before the floor rotted out.

And thank you.  Until Jim replied, your comment went right over my head.
Please accept my apologies for the oversight.

No problem Austin.  Hope all goes well.  I just kind of lost touch being out
of the internet loop for 6 months.  We have Internet underway, but very
limited and news groups are a luxury.

Had a pretty good time, very diverse cruise...went to Italy, Norway, Spain,
Croatia, Gibraltar, Bahrain, and my favorite...the Seychelles (what great
diving for dirt cheap)!

If only I could figure out how to bring the popup along....
