Has anyone ever heard of a Class A that has a retractable bed over the
driver's head in place of an entertainment center? There is sufficient
space there to have a queen bed suspended from the ceiling. Normally stored
flat against the ceiling, this bed could be pulled down (to about the level
of the top of the driver/passenger seats). This would limit access to the
cab when the bed is down.
Safari Trek has something like this (a motorized bed that is stored at
ceiling level but motors down for sleeping). However it is installed in the
middle of the RV; I'm looking for a bed over the driver's head.
If it isn't available commercially, does anyone know of a mechanic that
makes such custom modifications?

My 96 Allegro class A has a pulldown bed there--not a queen though and
it's spring loaded not motorized. Used to be quite common before the
front entertainment center "option" became the norm.

Had a Drop down bed over the driver on my early 90's fleetwood class a, but
it wasn't queen sized, and was only rated for the wieght of small kids.

I once read a roadtest of class A with a bed like that. It was deemed too
dangerous in the case of a collision. I guess the A class body is too weak
to take the strain and it could kill the driver,
Geoff. (My friend has a 75 Winnie that has one)
