Hi,
I'm looking to buy a SAFE setup for a 1997 Tioga Montara E460 26'.
I want to tow a 2002 toyota echo, from what I have read a blue Ox towbar is
the best. I need to find a matching tow bracket for the car. Any
suggestions? I have searched a few RV parts/accessories and can not find a
blue ox bracket to go with the bar.

Do I have to purchase a road master plate/bracket?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
If your Echo is an automatic you will need more then just a tow bar
and base plate to tow it.  I don't believe the automatics are towable
without modifications. The manual shift are towable without any
modifications.

If you get a Blue Ox tow bar you should get a Blue Ox base plate.
One for your car runs around $300 or so.  If you get another brand it
may not work or you may need other parts to make it work.

There are lots of places that sell BlueOx base plates.
http://www.remcotowing.com/
http://www.towingworld.com/
Are just two.

If you do a Goggle search for Blue Ox base plates or tow brackets you
will find a lot more.  IMO, there isn't one best tow bar.  It's what
you want, like and are willing to spend.  I have a Blue Ox and though
it wasn't completely trouble free it has worked fine for over 50K
miles.

Hope this helps.  Take care and Happy Campin...

Thanks,
I looked at camping world online and could not find any Blue-Ox plates
listed.
I have a 5-speed, so no problem there.

I just did a quick search on Google and came up with the following:

http://www.aemfg.com/Baseplates/toyota.html

this is a Blue Ox Baseplate page listing Toyota vehicles.

Contact Blue Ox directly (http://www.aemfg.com/). They list a baseplate for
00-03 Echo. To everyone who asks such questions, virtually all RV equipment
and accessory manufacturers have web sites. Most are very thorough and
include all the information you need (ex: HWH makes all owner's manuals and
troubleshooting information available for download). Most have online, phone
and/or mail ordering available and some even provide help via email and/or
phone. Those that don't have extensive online support generally offer
dealer/vendor lists with contact information. Personally I check Google
first (and usually last) for information on nearly anything I need (RV and
otherwise).
