We travel and camp for 2 months each summer and I need recommendations for a
good charger of AA Nicklemetal hybrid batteries that works off my trucks 12v
cigarette plug
Camping world has a plug in inverter for $29. What do you guys use and what
should I avoid.  We do lots of drycamping so I need to charge up with the
truck.  Thanks

Rayovac PS4!

It will charge 1 to 4 AA batteries within an hour; and automatically
shut off the charge to each individual battery when it reaches full
charge. It also has a NiCad setting.

I run mine from the inverter; but there is an accessory 12 VDC cord
available, which usually now included with the package.

I don't know if they make one for the AA batteries, but Ambico makes a
charger for the Sony batteries for my CD400 that comes with a wall
wart for 120 v and a car plug for 12 v.

I've got a Ray-O-Vac running through an inverter for the AA batteries
for the Cannon.

Rayovac makes a 15 minute charger for AA and AAA batteries. It comes with a
110 and 12 V cord. You can use it on either. I got mine at Sam's.

Yeh, but you also have to buy their 15 minute batteries to use with it.

True only for 15 minute charge.  It will do normal NiMH and NiCd
batteries overnight.

Hi Stan,

They will charge any batteries, well chargeable ones <g>

I have two sets, one lives in the charger...

It has been my understanding from reading the blurb on the package, that
the 15 minute Rayovac charger can only be used with Rayovac batteries
specifically designed for 15 minute chargers.

Even with their standard PS4 one-hour charger, the batteries get pretty
hot: like around 120F.

So you are using standard NiMh batteries in the 15 minute charger??

Yes.  I have one set of 15 min. Rayovacs and one set of regular charge
batteries.
