Sorry, I posted this in the middle of a thread first time by mistake.
Here it is!:
I have just bought a 17 year old campervan with a Dometic Fridge. It
works fine on propane but when I switch over to 12v there is no cooling
whatsoever. The unit is level. The heater pipe gets nice and hot on 12v
and you can feel warm air coming out of the upper vent on the outside.
However the inside of the fridge simply reverts to the outside ambient
temperature. Can anyone suggest a course of action? The fact that the
fridge cools on propane and that the heater element gets hot on 12v
suggests to me that this may be some sort of adjustment problem.

One other quick question. Can the propane fridge and propane furnace be
used while driving, or only when stopped and level?

As you can tell, I am a newbie but i spent an hour going over back
questions but could not find any help. thanks for any suggesstions you
may be able to offer,

Nick    (Please REMOVETHIS from my email address!)

Ned, my Dometic doesn't cool on 12v either... none do unless they are
a 3way fridge.

Mine runs on electric and propane only.  I suspect yours does too.

Try plugging the RV power cord into electric and see if it works then.
It will take a while for it to cool.

If it still won't cool you might need a new electric circuit board.

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "...holy sh.t...what a ride!"

I should have been more precise. I was running it on 12v through the
converter with the RV power cord plugged in. It is an old model so it
does not run on ac power. I did not notice an electic circuit board but
I will check again. Thanks for your suggestions, Ned

Ned, I believe your Fridge probably is a three way.  Forget the 12V mode.
Use AC and propane only.  When you set the Fridge to AC it is actually AC,
not DC from your converter.  Look at the back panel and you will see an AC
cable plugged into a AC outlet.  You probably have "dirty" connections all
over the place on the board.  Be careful as there is voltage when plugged in
on the board.  Does AC work in the camper?

Andy
Been there
